If it was up to me, the inside of my home would look like it came out of a Restoration Hardware catalog. I love rustic, industrial chic everything. One trend I’m totally smitten with is vintage lighting and “Edison Lamps”. Stores like Pottery Barn, World Market and others have so many varieties of this concept. This one is an example of one of the table lamps that West Elm has right now. Basically, the lamps are designed where the bulb is totally (or almost totally) exposed to show off the retro look of the glass and the filament inside.
If you have seen these around, you know they aren’t cheap for the most part. But. Never Fear. I found a way to make it happen for way less.
First- all you need is a lamp. If you don’t have one living in a spare closet like I did, then go to Goodwill and grab one for a few bucks. Just make sure its presentable with no shade, because you won’t be using one.
Then- grab a vintage bulb. Amazon has these sets of four for $24. That’s a steal, because if you try to buy the bulbs in one of the boutiques right now they are around $10 each. I went ahead and bought the set of four in case mine goes out.
