School is OUT! Y’all don’t even know how excited I am to not have to wake a sleeping baby every morning to take G to school! It’s seriously the worst. Especially, when you have a baby that doesn’t sleep often. Anyway, yesterday was the last day of Kindergarten, my baby’s first year of real school. He cried getting off the bus because he doesn’t want to go to First Grade and he misses his teacher over the summer. So cute! I remember being sad after Second Grade. Ahhh #kidprobs. So, I asked him what he wanted to do the evening of his last day and he chose snack night! Snack night is something Grayson sort of invented. Basically, I make a buffet of all his favorite snacks and he is allowed to eat whatever he wants. It’s a special occasion thing, and its pretty much the only time I am not strict about what he’s eating for dinner. Judge me if you will, but it’s easy to please a six year old boy! Snack buffet + Movies = Happy kids. He even invited his best friend, Julie over to join him last night!

Here’s how to make your own Summer “Snack Night” happen.

First, definitely take advantage of the “Summer Storm Stock Up” promotion at Publix! If you spend $30 on any of the ConAgra Foods® and General Mills products listed below, you get a $10 Publix gift card back!

Summer Stock Up at Publix

All you have to do is shop for anything on the list, sign up at the stormstockup.com, upload your receipt(s), (you can add up to three receipts to equal your $30!) and submit it. You can earn up to three gift cards per family, so stock up on these shelf stable products! Naturally, since I was looking for snacks, I mostly stuck to snack items. I actually went to Publix twice, so I used this receipt and another for about $7.

1 | Once you get home from the store and upload your receipt(s), find a location in your house where you can set up a kid friendly space to arrange a comfy “movie theater” type setting.

2 | Use an existing nearby surface that kids can reach (I used my sofa table and just covered it with a tablecloth.

3 | Arrange your “snack buffet” with easy access for self service.

4 | Don’t forget plates and drinks!

5 | Enjoy! Let your kids have a free night of munching on snacks and watching their favorite movies. Here are Grayson’s top five favorites.

What simple, but special activity do your kids love? Do you think they would enjoy a “Snack Night”? Have a great weekend! I am headed to Houston this afternoon, and I cannot wait!
