A Monochrome Kid’s Room with Delta Children

August 21, 2017

Monochrome kids rooms are really popular right now. They are modern and clean and classy. When we downsized to our apartment, it was important to me that Grayson keep his own space. Tyler and I are only in our room to sleep, and both babies are too young to care about sharing rooms, so we aren’t picky with where we ended up. However, Grayson is at an age where he values privacy and independence. A lot. He also has quite a lot of opinions on how he likes his space to look and feel, so I am always excited to play around with his room decor. He always appreciates how I set it up, which I love him for. Ever since he was four or five years old, he has loved black and white (monochrome) as a color scheme. I like it too, because it’s easy to have as a basic canvas that can be changed easily with pops of color here and there (if desired later on).

For his new room, the staple pieces would be his Delta Children Providence 6 Drawer Dresser and Providence Nightstand, along with his black metal bunkbeds. From there, we would incorporate other monochrome items that we have had for a long time, plus some special “Grayson” things that have followed him from home to home. He has his beloved baseball trophies etc., and we can’t forget those!

The dresser is a perfect size for all of his clothes, socks and accessories. We use it also to display his TV and video game consoles. My favorite thing about this dresser is how quiet and easily the drawers open and close. It is extremely well made and sturdy.

His nightstand is equally as high quality and functional. I love the alcove in the bottom for storing games and books, while the drawer is handy for other small odds and ends. You can see that this is also the home of the alarm clock that I am forcing asking him to use.

Here’s a peek at some more details of the room.

I love this look for kids rooms. I love soft neutrals as well, but at a certain point with little ones I ended up with a lot of brightly colored kids toys and I switched to a black/white/primary color look which better accommodated all the brightly colored toys. I also decorated my office in black/white/primary colors, so I can easily move things around between the rooms (like picture frames, or pillows, or rugs.) You did an amazing job!
