DIY Stenciled Pillow | My #MothersPromise

This post is sponsored by #Pampers & #Walmart via #Acorn. All opinions and content are mine alone.

Since I am back in Babyland after a LONG break between kiddos, I am so excited to partner with Pampers and Walmart on their #MothersPromise campaign.

There are so many things I wish I could promise my babies. I say “wish” because I don’t ever want to make a promise that is hard to keep. However, there is something I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I can promise to be for them.

I can be their haven.

Being a Mom is full of hopes and wishes and wanting the best for your kids. While we always want our children to succeed, inevitably, they will fail. There will be ups and downs, successes and failures, wins and losses, trials and triumphs. Accidents will happen, mistakes will be made. Having a six year old means I have experienced the highs and lows for several years now and have lots of experience in being the one to pick up the pieces. Now that Charlie is here, I will make to her the same promise I made to Grayson when he was brand new. As blissful as Motherhood can be, it also comes with the disappointment we feel when our children face obstacles.

Therefore, my promise is to be a “soft place to land”.

To signify this promise, I’m stenciling “Be Brave.” onto a pillow. I have always loved these words as they have seen me through some dark times. I find myself saying them to my kids often, as well! My hope is that Charlie will keep this pillow to remind her of my promise to her. By seeing the pillow everyday, it will remind me, too.

You only need a few things for this DIY. (Remember, I don’t do anything that requires skill or talent!)

  • A pillow cover/case
  • Alphabet stencil of your choice
  • Sharpie or Fabric Marker

  1. Flatten your pillow cover out and secure corners to your surface with tape.FullSizeRender
  2. Lay out your stencil.FullSizeRender-3
  3. Trace the edges of the letters with your marker.FullSizeRender-2
  4. Fill in the letters with your marker.FullSizeRender-1

And, that’s it! (I told you I don’t do hard crafts.)

In addition to the pillow, Pampers Premium Care diapers give Charlie another soft place to land. (Pun 100% intended.) But seriously, some of you Pampers die hards already know that these are top tier, high quality diapers. They have the wetness indicator we all know and love, and are hypoallergenic. They carry a 5 star skin care rating and are breathable inside and out which protects baby’s precious skin. You can purchase your box from Walmart, and of course they are always available in store.

Bravo, Katie! You have shown that not only through words and deeds are you an advocate for your children, but you are also that safe shelter they can seek unconditionally. My “boys” are 37 and 39 now. When they were babies, I promised that I would protect their childhood. Children are pushed to be ahead of the game in all aspects of life. When childhood is over, it cannot be reclaimed. I promised my guys plenty of time to play in the dirt, build forts, and ride their bikes. Childhood is too precious to spend rushing.
