In my last post, I talked about reasons I can’t wait for fall. On the list was definitely football season. Again, I am not a super fan by any stretch of the imagination and I don’t even have a strong allegiance to any particular team. Don’t get me wrong, there are some teams that I definitely DON’T like, but we will save that for another time.
There’s just something about football on the TV that brings the Fall nostalgia. In college, Saturdays were spent with watching college football games all day while we grilled, drank beer, and enjoyed the crisp breeze of Autumn. Some Saturdays, we would get cute in our game day attire and walk to our own college’s stadium to watch a game in person. You can’t beat the energy of a college football stadium on game day.
10+ years later, my Saturdays look a little different. But, even though I’m not on a college campus anymore, the feelings of a Fall day during football season are still worth reliving. Even if it’s just our little family tailgating from our living room, it can still be fun! I have an EASY DIY for game days. I hesitate to even call it a recipe because it’s only a couple of steps and is totally fool proof. These Football Floats are something that can be enjoyed with one or two people, or in a large quantity for a game day gathering.
Here’s what you need:
Clear mug or glass
White sticker paper or white tape
Vanilla ice cream
1 | Cut tape or sticker paper into strips in order to make the football “laces”.
2 | Place the “laces” directly on the side of the mug.
3 | Scoop one large scoop of ice cream into the mug.
4 | Pour Coca-Cola over the ice cream to create your own float.
Naturally, the brown color of the Coca-Cola is your “football”, complete with white laces! Add a straw and enjoy!
