About a year ago, I bought a hutch at a flea market. It was a total impulse buy, but I was furnishing a new home and I needed something on the kitchen wall.

I haven’t done anything with it since then, which is kind of unlike me. I usually have things decorated and living out their purpose within 24 hours. I have to say I wasn’t loving my choice. And then… Eureka! I decided it would actually make a great coffee station. Off I went to Walmart to buy some Dunkin’ Donuts® Coffee Creamer Singles as a perfect, every day alternative to my half and half. The fact that they don’t have to be refrigerated makes them incredibly convenient. This was obviously a must-have for the project.

Technically, it’s a coffee prep station, because I prefer to actually BREW my coffee next to the sink. The kitchen counter also feels a lot more kid proof than the hutch. I can just see my kids pouring hot coffee on themselves. Nope. Let’s keep the coffee pot on the counter…

It’s so important for me to have a convenient place to prep my coffee. I am always trying to fly out the door with a diaper bag, book bag, baseball bag, baby, and/or other things, all while usually nagging my six year old to hurry up and get his shoes on. Coffee is most definitely a staple in this house and I make myself a cup (or three) several times a day. I need the morning kick, the afternoon slump booster, and then that one last dose in the evening to help me make it to the finish line bedtime.

I’m also a mug collector. Nothing fancy, I just love my coffee mugs. I know exactly where I was when I bought my mugs and they are all special to me! I have always wanted to have them all out in the open so I can admire them. So, I started by adding my favorite mugs to the top shelf. (Which one is your favorite?! I love my Anthropologie gold monogram mugs!)

Then, I added my “prep” tools and ingredients to the middle shelf. I put my coffee and sugar in glass canisters. I love how clean and simple it looks.

I put the three varieties of Dunkin’ Donuts® Coffee Creamer Singles in a cute bowl, where they are easy and quick to grab. They have caramel, vanilla, and hazelnut flavors and they are all delicious. (I personally recommend mixing the hazelnut and caramel!)IMG_0153

I went to the craft section at Walmart and found these large craft sticks and thought they would be perfect as disposable coffee stirrers, so I put them in an adorable mug and stuck them on the prep shelf.

Finally, I added finishing touches like my beloved antique hurricane lanterns, and a pretty galvanized tray.

My new coffee station makes preparing my coffee ten times easier and more fun. Not only that, but now I finally have a use for the hutch and it makes my kitchen look just a little cuter!

If you have a Keurig, don’t forget that you can also find Dunkin’ K-Cup® packs on your next Walmart trip. They are made especially for your Keurig® K-Cup® brewing system so that you can enjoy your favorite Dunkin’ Donuts® brews with the new Dunkin’ Donuts® Coffee Creamer Singles.

Fun! Ran across your blog and found us common souls 🙂 coffee and hemangioma life (except my son has a port wine stain/AVM). I’ll check back often.
