Building Our Tribe | Wine Country Blogger Brunch

August 15, 2017

I have said before that the best part about blogging is undoubtedly the relationships I have made. I was nervous when I moved to Wine Country that I would have a hard time connecting with a blogger community here. When you work from home in such a specific industry, it’s so important to have a tribe of women who understand the ins and outs of the “biz” and can be a valuable support and sounding board. Professional bloggers are usually, by nature, creative, savvy, and social. Can you imagine the power we have in numbers?! Exactly. That’s why I’m all about collaboration over competition.

As soon as the move was planned I started searching hashtags to try and find fellow bloggers in and near wine country that I could connect with and grow relationships. It didn’t take long before I had reached out and introduced myself to several local influencers. Everyone I reached out to was sweet and welcoming and professional. I was excited to meet them in real life someday!

One day, Randi from Wine Country Mom’s Blog and I were chatting about how everyone should get together. I LOVE meeting new people and I LOVE planning events, so I was all over this idea. I reached out to Mallory from Vine Living Blog, (who I also adore) and told her about our idea and suggested we get a plan together! From there, Mallory basically handled the business. She is a native “Napan” who is a local expert and had amazing ideas for a gathering. She organized the most fun brunch and wine tasting for all of us with less than two weeks to plan. It was perfect.

We started at Lucy at Bardessono in Yountville for brunch. First of all, the Bardessono property is absolutely incredible. While we waited on our food, we were able to tour the grounds and it was gorgeous!

When we were seated, everyone (except pregnant me) got to start with a mimosa made with bubbles courtesy of JCB Collection. We had the most beautiful gift bags at our place filled with goodies from several local places. It included a bottle of Rosé from Hoopes Vineyard, jewelry from Olive & Poppy, Sisters Boutique, and Boho Lifestyle, and macarons from Bouchon Bakery. It was such a nice way to be introduced to some awesome local businesses.

I ordered the shrimp and grits from the Sunday brunch menu and I have to be honest, I was skeptical! As a Southern girl, I wasn’t sure that California would have good grits, but it was AMAZING.

Over brunch we introduced ourselves and our blogs, shared many belly laughs, and formed amazing brand new connections. Having just moved that weekend, I had to scurry off to get back home, but the rest of the crew enjoyed light bites and a group wine tasting at Silver Trident Winery in Yountville.

Our blogger get together was one to remember and hopefully the start of many new friendships and working relationships. I am so lucky to have met this group of empowering women and I can’t wait for our next event!

Huge thank you to Devin Cruz Photography and Lindsey Tatum Photography for these photos.
